For those not in the know, Beverly Hills Car Club is a classic car dealer that, among many fine concourse level classics, also has a small inventory of rotted to hell junk that was pulled out of a lake that are always listed for way more than they’re worth.

I kind of love looking at them. I find a haunting beauty in many of them. Others I just laugh at because they’re barely recognizable.

Oh, and the description ALWAYS says “a great candidate for full restoration”.

Theseus Paradox, anyone?

See, some aren’t that bad...

Well the Theseus Paradox is irrelevant because all people probably want is the VIN.

How does that make it irrelevant, exactly?

My buddy bought a ‘69 911t and a 912 soft window targa from them about 6 years ago. He’s still working on them. They weren’t quite “bottom of the lake” but not too far off.

Poor word choice and phrasing. It’s relevant but the people looking at it don’t care.

Not gonna lie, that Rolls would be an awesome candidate for a hot rod build especially if you could drop in something wild, like a Nissan RB or Toyota 2JZ.

For the 99.99999% of people who look at that dealership those really far gone cars are not targeted towards your average buyer or even collector. There is a very niche market where money is meaningless and they are looking for a very specific car. The VIN is worth more than the rest of the car by a long ways. They know from the jump that they are rebuilding the entire car around the original spec of the car and that little if anything will be salvaged from what’s left.

I love looking at their cars even though many of them are major CP with frame rust. They do occasionally have what looks to be a nice car. That Lagonda looks decent and last year they had a good looking Merak for 30k.
